#TICTOCPIX | 2013
#tictocpix was an interactive project executed during the entire month of December 2013 on Chloë Flores Facebook (CFFB). Using my mobile, I took screenshots every time I saw specific time signatures that had "meaningful" implications. These images were immediately uploaded onto the publicly accessible Facebook site along with verbiage from various spiritual/ religious belief systems or historical, political, and economic facts about numbers, time and money. Viewers then responded to each post with their statements, photographs or screenshots, often sharing their own personal views about the combination of the image, numbers or time. They were also encouraged to counter and disagree with any of the facts or beliefs that were posted. Because of the nature of Facebook, older posts would often overcome newer ones based on when people “liked” or responded, affecting the overall linear chronology of how we normally view time. My intent was use this online platform to engage viewers in a questioning of how (and why) we assign meaning and value in time, …and, in a larger context, of how we as a culture continue to connect to each other and the world in the face of all that is uncertain.
"CFFB is an art space and curatorial project that utilizes the user-based, social interface of Facebook as a public space for exhibition and representation—of oneself, of others, and of art. Similar to exhibitions or artworks that reference the site in which they appear, this exhibition’s framework—Facebook’s interface and social system—provides this project with its overarching context.”-- Chloë Flores
