I MEANT TO TELL YOU | 2013

Consisting of thirty individual panels, I Meant To Tell You is primarily about longing and the passage of time in one's personal history. Each piece represents a day within a calendar month and is made with only various adhesives (glue, string, tape) that have both a symbolic meaning and a functional purpose in holding things together. The panels resemble blank pieces of legal paper...a potential space to communicate or to document. Yet, there are no words. The blue lines, instead, break away from the expected, stable patterns and form their own expressions within the contained but imperfect pour of the yellow.

WHAT WE SAID IS BETWEEN US | 2013

The works in this series deal with dialogue within an intimate relationship, unspoken verbally but stated or insinuated nevertheless....i.e.: actions that cause one to need to read between the lines. The works are 30 x 40 inches to reflect the largeness of space that is created when verbal contracts between romantic partners are broken or lost.

FLAWED HISTORY | 2000-2010

Flawed History is a series of mixed media works that took over ten years to fully realize. Made with only glue, string, tape on clay coated panels, the pieces are made to resemble legal notebook paper. The concept was to create an easily recognizable image--a blank piece of paper, which serves as a symbol for what could be: a journal entry, a love letter, a to-do list, a draft for a novel, etc. We create our own future, which becomes our history, through experiences which are colored by perceptions based on our individual upbringing. Each mark we make speaks volumes of the lives we choose to lead and the lives we then affect. By allowing the unique "imperfections" to form and exist in each piece during the process of making, I especially drew attention to the question of what are "flaws"---as our own marks and abrasions serve to document our routes and give meaning to our person and existence.
